Nicholaus Arnold’s DORK is about a spirit of nonconformity and audacity. The exhibition highlights the messiness of Art and focuses on its fun meanderings. Originally inspired by the impending tick tocking of his life’s clock, the artist, Nicholaus Arnold has revisited his 25 years of creating work and culled out the fun parts that basically embarrass the shit out of him at times. There’s always a silver lining to creating works that kind of suck and then forcing them to be something that they were never intended to be.
Nicholaus Arnold received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wright State University and his Master of Fine Arts from Syracuse University where he received the prestigious Shaffer Fellowship, quite a few pats on the back, and numerous “thumbs-ups”. He currently runs The Blue House Gallery with his wife Ashley and is the University of Dayton Galleries Director. Despite managing these multiple jobs he maintains his own studio practice in Dayton and exhibits locally and nationally with pointed works of art designed to generally make his audience feel at home with his weird sense of humor. Nick is quite comfortable with practicing in most art mediums, and writing about himself in the third person.
