Through painted depictions and sculptures of sealed stacks, Jordan Buschur and Gina Reichert each reference printed materials that have outlived their intended use. Once vehicles for the transfer of information, the books and newspapers now function as symbols, patterns, and relics from original owners.
 

Buschur’s paintings harness the decorative language of book covers, with the addition of altered titles and layered imagery skewing into the world of poetry. By submerging a collection of newspapers from an abandoned house in plaster, Reichert’s sculptures pay homage to the physical and psychological weight of personal collections.
